so today i had a fun day.
i am being both sincere and sarcastic.
i woke up early to get down to soho to buy myself stiff-woman attire for my interview tomorrow. i tell you, never do i want to work a job that requires office attire: pencil skirts make me look blumpy and i hate the sight of heels and all that.
after an arduous two or so hours i saw the new york film academy flag flying ahead and decided to get a brochure for the fun of it. though i've decided one of their (expensive) courses is not in my future.
then (and this is the real reason i went to soho) i showed up early at the apple store for the talk with the above people. i sat through a two-hour iPhone tutorial thing (ick) and decided to buy an ipod shuffle. BAD IDEA! i now own literally (LITERALLY!) $2, bread nutella bananas, 4 movie tickets and a subway card. enough for me to go to the ifc center and eat bomb shelter food for a while. idiotic. i always pick the wrong times to be an impulsive buyer.
so the talk was good. i like joe swanberg more and more. he talked about how he basically brings all cast + crew into one apartment and builds up the script as he goes, editing every night. which i thought was very very cool and something i would love to do. and they talked a lot about how people are fighting so hard to group them under one moniker, which is interesting because the more i think about it, these films are more different than alike. i would love to think that i could fund a first film or something but my student debt will shatter just about any dream of that. also, aaron katz's next project sounds soo interesting (though i am yet to see one of his films).
anyway that was the good hour of my day.
i rushed home with a throbbing migraine, slept woke up, couldn't sleep. tried to write, failed. i am now experiencing frustrated self-hatred via the "i will never be a writer i can't even write!" route.
good times.
