OEDIPUS UN-REX
they chose the crystal ball
not because of the crystal,
but because the ball-shape twists
and stretches our eyes into
empty moans, pulls our
noses into skin, makes starless
skies out of our mouths until
we see ourselves
as our childhood want-nots
and won't-happen-to-mes,
worrying about our reflections
in the funhouse mirror
on carnival wednesdays.
