I Will Now Sell Five Copies Of The Three EPs By The Beta Band.

I finally saw high fidelity (i know, i know, how could i have not seen it yet?) and it makes me want to go out and buy 5 million records but jesus i won't because, until i get my crosley entertainment center, i have no record player + I'm still pretty much enamoured by CDs and tapes. It was so different from the book! Like Laura was a lot prettier than I imagined and Rob was a lot skinnier and less bald. But I love John Cusack! It was set in America though, not England, which I (and everyone) believe is an integral part of any Nick Hornby novel. Still, I love Cusack & Todd Louiso (Dick) was sooo good. Lol! The scene where he plays Stiff Little Fingers. so good! + jack black. gotta love him. i do. it really does make me see how school of rock was just high fidelity 2. lol? the scene in the car was also really really different! I'm still getting over that. and some of the great lines from the book didn't make it into the movie! There was this one point when rob wore a shirt that said 'hong kong 6' (in chinese characters) & I was too proud to be able to read that. all though HK 7s would've made more sense (hehe). Which brings me to lists. Fuck I love lists. I have to say it made my (early) morning. awesome movie. especially since I am such a proponent of the voiceover (not so much of talking to the screen ... but it worked)! I found myself analyzing the movie with media studies/intro to film techniques. yikes. modern film = city skyscape!

Top 5 Songs That Keep Me Awake When I Should Really Be Sleeping:
1. Shine A Light - Wolf Parade (sleepless memories with the album!)
2. Hey - Pixies (perfection. will keep me awake even on loop)
3. Hello Operator - The White Stripes (basically De Stijl in its entirety)
4. Somewhere Across Forever - Stellastarr* (blue hair, blew my chances ... great!)
5. Rock N Roll Lies - Razorlight (Up All Night ... haha)

And now I'm going to continue with my sleeplessness. Life is great. I might do my next radio show in a series of Top 5s :)
