When Freud speaks of religion, he mentions: “the whole thing is so patently infantile, so foreign to reality … it is painful to think that the majority of mortals will never be able to rise above this view of life” (22). It would seem that Freud endorses reality, that he endorses the death of the original, infantile (native) state.
