Pop Beats Poetry

Thursday night was not too great. I was bitterly paranoid and tired and heavy under the weight of something. But I do feel much better and I know that because, when my dad called, I told him absolutely nothing eas wrong except for the usual needing to catch up with work and all. It sort of feels good to not feel too bad ... but this is the peaceful phase before good starts to feel too uncomfortable.

Today (or rather, yesterday) I did nothing. I woke up at 3pm and read some gertrude stein (Ida: a novel - premium stuff!), took a shower, went to see 300 with my Lit Hum class. 300 was ... epic. It was pretty to look at and drew a lot from the graphic novel but, really, people like it so much for the same reasons they like troy or lord of the rings. and i am not into that kind of movie. one of the better movies in its genre is what i'll say.

the day redeemed itself though because I watched y tu mamá también for the first time. So amazing (I might write my film final on it). It reminded me of Ghana road trips and such, which was great, but it's strength lay in a) the cast b) the humour c) camera movement!! d) constant notice of the world outside/social context ... reality mostly unaltered, magic in everyday, etc. so fucking good. lusia's character annoyed me to a certain extent. i mean, she is obviously the product of some boyish fantasy (and maybe that's the point, though i think not). ah!

i was also planning on watching slacker but i'm too tired. good night.
