On A Volé Un Collier De Perles De 5 Millions

I love my film class, I really do! Especially after today's discussion session. Like I always say, studying a text often makes me fall in love with it & the same goes for movies. Movies are awesome. I often have the "English lit is useless" debate with people who say "why study english when you don't learn about things that nobody knows (metaphors, similes, etc) and when you never really know what the writer was thinking and you can say anything is right as long as you bakc it up?" I've concluded that only people that don't really study English Lit say things like that ... Lit Hum is not english lit. But back to film stuides love.

Yesterday we watched Ballet Mecanique, which simply just floored me. it was fucking awesome. it basically invited you to look at the world in a different way (cue the kooks) ... and words do no justice though they'll have to when I write about it ... it was amazingly amazing. I really wish I could do English & Film but the Film major has too many credits involved! Especially since I also want to do creative writing, which will overlap with screenwriting. I am also worried about never getting a job. Not that English/creative writing really solves that problem. I just don't know how I'm going to let my parents know that I'm shattering their dreams of pre-med or pre-law or science and replacing them with film. Plus I've always thought that you do film because you're going to grad school to do film. Can you even become a director with a B.A. in film?
