I Was Gonna Get Up And Pick The Broom

sugarplum, honeypie.
in most countries I am 19.
in Ghana it just turned 'just after 11'.
whoop, whoop?
but i've decided that, in 19 years,
if I'm still talking to myself
then I'm good to go.
besides, what am I holding on to?
6 years of anger & frustration?
yes.
make me, make me
on a mattress doused with pee.
there is so much i am not yet
& that decreases with the times.
hope makes life so ironic.
and i don't mean trucker hats and plaid,
good because it's bad ironic.
i mean real irony.

ohmyrockness.com tried to philosophize about the nature of indie/the future so I put my two cents in:

I think indie rock will be remembered as a joke, only because it is so badly named! Indie rock is not a sound ... 'indie' refers to the production/managing. these days "indie bands" are on major labels. therefore, what we call "indie rock" is basically bands that masquerade under the image of "we don't care about the money, we care about the art" and rake in the dough like crazy.

Punk is immortalized because it (in it's original form) died so young. If it hadn't died, it would've become so popular that real punks would be bombarded by people that just love the punk image. Indie rock is at the beginning of that ... in 5 years or less, we'll have what 50 Cent and Ludacris are to hip-hop (jokes) running the show. Madonna gave way to bad 90s pop. Life is just like that. In fact, most indie music since 2003 is to real indie what Ludacris & 50 Cent are to real hip-hop

But I'll end this essay here. Remember: indie rock is not a genre of music!
