Thursday

Friday
woke up at 5pm because I slept at 8pm. waited in anticipation. saw some of KIMYA DAWSON's set & the entirety of JEFF LEWIS's set up close (and personal) at SIDEWALK CAFE. such an awesome night save for the 2 hours spent standing in line. got more issues of fuff (though 2 & 3 weren't on sale)!
Saturday
DC for the anti-war protest! didn't sleep so I stumbled down at 5 to get on a long long bus ride full of musical nostalgia for the early 90s and half-awake sleep. took the train from maryland to dc and joined the anarchists marching drumming chanting like people should OFF THE SIDEWALK INTO THE STREETS! THE PEOPLE UNITED WE'LL NEVER BE DEFEATED! WHAT DOES A POLICE STATE LOOK LIKE? THIS IS WHAT A POLICE STATE LOOKS LIKE! PEACE NOW! the best part was our attempt to charge capitol when policemen on motorbikes on horses and in tiny cars revved and giddyed to try and scare us. guns were shown, pissed of faces were shown - I bet you half those policemen were the self same people protesting the vietnam war. THAT'S BULLSHIT GET OFF IT! THE WAR IS FOR PROFIT! i had an amazing time until i got so sick from non-sleep that I edged my way back to the bus station and slept. awesome!
Sunday
today I woke up at 11am and did all the things that I should do that I never do the way I should. this includes laundry, lit hum readings, grocery shopping, buying the film coursepack, and getting my hair relaxed. back to reading!
[I'll update with photos if Rahel posts them up]
Oh and ... I GOT A RADIO SHOW!

My show is called The Train Out To Montauk and I will be playing mostly folk & anti-folk but a lot of other stuff that I also adore: percussion + southern rock + classic rock + some punk + bands from the NYC scene :) It will be on-air WEDNESDAYS from 2-4AM (for the easterners), 11-1AM (for the westerners who actually start on tuesdays), 7-9AM (for the UKers), 3-5PM (for the HKers, which means this will be my prime audience), 6-8PM (for the ozzies in melbourne), & available for download after the show for those of you who won't be able to tune in. When the site is running, you'll be able to go to wbar.org to listen. First show = February 7th and I am mucho excited!
JOEL: January 13th, 2006.
Today I skipped work
